Check the warranty and guarantees on the product to see if you can return the product if it is damaged or if the company sends the wrong item.  

When you buy DVDs online you’ll also want to be sure your credit card and payment information is encrypted and protected. You don’t want to risk losing your credit card number to an unscrupulous hacker.  

If you find a DVD for a lower price, check the shipping costs to be sure you won’t pay a lot more for shipping than you might on another site.

Sometimes you can pre-order a new release and get a discount, though you may have to be a member of the online DVD site in order to take advantage of this kind of deal. If there is no charge for membership, you might consider signing up.  

If you have a choice to download the DVD rather than buying the DVD for shipment, be sure you understand the limitations. If the DVD download does not work, can you download the movie again without paying twice? How many times can you download the movie for one price? Will you be satisfied having the download on your computer when you might want to take it to someone’s house to view it on a DVD player?  

Finally, if you are a movie lover but you aren’t the kind to watch a movie over and over again, you might prefer to register for online DVD rental instead of buying DVDs online.
